ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting vif the Gisborne branch of tho Y.M.C.A. was held in th? Association rooms last evening, when Mr E. S. Malcolm presided over a failmeeting of members. An apology for unavoidable absence was received from Dr. Porter. The annual report, copies of which bad been circulated, was taken as read and adopted. Mr J. Peach, treasurer, submitted a balance sheet showing receipts from all sources to have amounted to £7ll 16s 4d, and expenditure to £730 7s 7d, leaving a debit balance of £IS 115.3 d. The assets were estimated at £3545 17s 3d, and liabilities £3225 13s 2d, leaving a surplus of £320 4s 3d. The election of the Board of Directors resulted in the following being elected : Messrs J. C. Aitkin, J. R. Kirk, F. S. Malcolm, T. E. Tonneycliffe, P. Busbnell and Goldsmith. A seventh director will be selected later. The chairman intimated that the secretary, Mr Bushnell, had found the duties were taking up too much of his time, and had tendered liis resignation. It was suggested that a paid secretary should he engaged, and after discussion on the matter it jwas agreed to leave it to the directors to make an arrangement. On tho motion of Mr Bloore a vote of thanks was tendered to the directors. Tho treasurer, Mr Peach, and the secretary, Mr Bushnell, were also tendered hearty votes of thanks. The chairman made reference to the I excellent work done by both of these > officers, and Mr Kirk, in echoing these ' sentiments, suggested that in the case l of Mr Bushnell the directors should suitably acknowledge the work done. ■ This was carried by acclamation, and , Mr Bushnell responded. J The Ladies’ Auxiliary were also ac- , corded a vote of thanks. At the conclusion of the business a social was held, and musical and elocutionary items were rendered by Miss •Sim and Messrs Forge and H. McClymont. Mrs Glanville played the accompaniments. The meeting concluded with the singing of the Doxologv.
