LABOR DAY.
MEETING OF UNIONISTS.
A mooting of Unionists called by the Trades and Labor Council was held last night in the Trades Hall. Mr A. S. Richards, president of tbe Trades and Labor Council, presided, and explained the reason for calling the meeting ■was urge upon Unionists tbe necessity of turning out in full strength in the Labor Da.v demonstration on Thursday, November 16th. The secretary (Mr D. AY. Coleman) stated that this year’s procession promised to eqxial, if not excel, previous efforts, and pionted out that this day was the only day out of the 365 upon which organised labor had the opportunity of uniting and celebrating the event of the 8-hour day. He trusted that the respective unions would turn out and make their own day a huge success. Several other gentlemen spoke in a similar strain. The following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this meeting of Unionists urge all Unionists fin Gisborne to turn out and take part in the Labor Day procession.”
