GISBORNE WOOL SALE.

SATISFACTORY PRICES

The Gisborne Woolbrokers’ Association held a sale of wool, skins, hides, and tallow at the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s rooms yesterday. There was good competition, and the prices obtained were satisfactory. The buyers represented were Messrs.* Dean Bros. (Masterton), Butcher (Napier), Murgatroyd (Auckland), Warnock (Auckland), M. F. Bourke and Co. (Auckland), and Nelson Bros. Messrs. Williams and Kettle offered 162 bales and 25 pockets of wool, 4380 skins, 190 ‘ hides, and 118 packages of tallow. The following prices were obtained:—Wool: Fleece 6d to 7kb pieces 4d to sd, bellies 4d to sd, crutchings to skb dead 6d to 6kb locks 2£d to 3id. Skins: Full wool well saved 51-d to 6sd, half vvoolled 4£d to 5-|d, pelts 6d to 9d, inferior and badly saved skins 2d to 4d, salted skins 2s to ss, green skins 3s 6d to ss, station hides 3d to 5Jd, calf up to 6d, and tallow 18s to 20s Gd. Messrs. Common, Shelton, and Co. submitted 35 bales of wool and about 1600 skins, and sold all. The following prices were obtained:—Wool: Fleece 6d to 63-d, locks 3d, crutchings 3d to 5Jd, bellies sd, mixed wool s|d to 6J-d. Skins: Well saved 6d, inferior from 4d to 6d. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. offered 30 bales of wool, 1400 skins, and 50 hides. The prices realised were as follows: Wool: Fleece 6d to 63d, dead 6d to 6kb crutchings 3*-d to sd, pieces 3d to 4]d, locks 3d. Skins: Eull-woolled 5d to 6d for extra good lots, others 3d to sd, according to wool and quality. Hides 4tl to s|d, tallow 21s 6(1. The Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., offered’2B bales, 3 fadges, 21 bags of wool, 1606 skins, 9 hides, 19 tins and 2 barrels of tallow. The prices realised were: —Wool: Crutchings 3UI to 4d, bellies 4kb locks 3cl, crossbred fleeces 63d to 7kb fine crossbred 7kb dead 4Jd to 6fd, skins 4cl to Gd, pelts 9(1 each, hides 3d to 4fßb tallow P‘s to 21s. Messrs. Bennett and Sherratt offered 6 bales of wool, 8 fadges, 8 bags 10 pockets of crutchings, 20 tins of tallow, and 38 hides. The following prices were obtained :—Wool: Crossbred 6kb dead skb locks 3d, crutchings 4sd, skins about 6d. Tallow 20s, and hides up to s£d.
