ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FALL FROM-A TRAIN. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 13. Evidence given at the inquest concerning the death of Maggie Gallaher, a single woman, aged 37, showed that the woman fell off a moving trail* to Richmond on Thursday night, but _no adequate explanation was forthcoming of her fall. Halfway between the two stopping places she stood up suddenly, without saying anything, and fell backwards to the road. A verdict of accidental death was returned. JOCKEY CRESS DEAD. Charles Cress, a jockey, died at the hospital this morning from ptomaine poisoning. MACHINE FATALITY. Wm. Lurch, a young man, employed at Aulsebrook’s biscuit factory, was killed by being caught in the belt of the engine.' He was whirled round the pulley, and terribly injured. MENTAL INMATE’S DEATH. Patrick Coakley, aged 92 years, an inmate of the mental asylum at Waitati, wandered therefrom on September 24th. His body was found in the bush two miles a wav from the institution,.
