COMMERCIAL.
LONDON MARKETS. Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., have received the following advice from their London house, Messrs. Sanderson, Murray, and Co., under date 29fcli September:—Wool: The fifth series opened on September 26th, before a large attendance of buyers. The market opened with a good tone, which has in later sittings been further improved, competition from all quarters ,being animated. Compared with the close of the last sales, prices for all the best descriptions of merino produce are firm at rates current at that period, but medium wools and inferior descriptions in grease are par to 5 per cent, lower. Short, faulty scoured sorts are neglected, and the market is rather irregular for these at a decline of 10 per cent. For greasy crossbreds the decline is most marked in medium descriptions, which have given way to the extent of 74—10 per cent. Fine sorts are 5 per cent, lower, but on coarse wools there is. not much change, and prices are ruling par to 5 per cent, below July currency. On scoured parcels the depreciation amounts to about 5 per cent.,, and slipes, which have shown some recovery from the initial decline of 5-7-i- per cent.,' are now ruling par to 5 per cent, lower than at the close of the las + - series. The total quantity for the series, after deducting the number of hales forwarded direct, and adding the number of bales held over from last series, amounts to about 128,000 bales.
