ROWING.

GISBORNE ROWING CLUB. The races in the A and B grades were continued last evening, and-some iast ‘"and interesting races resulted'. ‘ In the A grade (Robertson’s trophies) Cumming, Brabant, Bright and Oman met deLautour, Scott, Fraser and Reddell. Frooni a good start deLautour began to forge ahead, but rounding the bend Cumming drew level, and from this on the crews raced together, deLautour finally winning by about. 2 feet/, ■ i The second race ’ was between Gully, Busby, McLean and Lovett, arid' Mc- ' Corivilie, Gerrard Gallop and O. ‘Wylie. This' also was a very even-, race; - McConville' having a slight advantage when passing under the bridge. ‘ - (Here Gully sprinted, but just failed to reach his opponent, who lasted' long enough towin by about 3 feet.. In the B grade (Nicholls and Griffiths trophies) the first,race was between Jeffries, Moore, Church, and Scarfe, and Rutherford, Donnelly, File and Melville. At the word “go” Rutherford soon established a lead and was never headed, eventually winning by over a length. The next crews to row were Hamilton, Kaye, Fysoni and-Hutton v. H. M. Pufflett, Fromm, Parsons and Cogar/ which was won by the latter crew by a length, after an even race. The races.will be continued this evening, when in the A grade McConville rows Pyoroft, and in.the B grade Toe-, ker rows Rutherford and H. M. Puflett rows Everiss, and some interesting races should result. . A meeting of the committee of the above Club w'as held last evening, when general business was transacted and it was decided to call for entries for the next trial fours, which have been! arranged as follow: —A grade for ,Mrs J. F. Pettie’s medals and B grade for Mr Morse’s trophies. The latter will be rowed on sliding seats, and the races will commence on the 3rd December. Entries close on Tuesday next at 5 p.m.
