POVERTY BAY CLUB
The' weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Rowing Chib was held last evening. Mr. J. Webb presiding. . The Gisborne Club wrote stating that they had a member desirous of competing for the Grieve Cup, and asking if the Poverty Bay Club were- agreeable to row as stipulated by. tire rules*. —It was decided to communicate with- Mr. Rees Jones, who- lias won the cup once and held it by default for the last two vears before! notifvin.fr the Gisborne Club. Alterations in two crews for the trial fours were made, and the- crews* now are:—.J. McConne’l, R- Douglas, A. E. Poswillo, P. Stubbs; B. Somervell, W. Hall, F. Snowden, A. Pool. Hie Visiting Committee for the week was armoinfed as -follows:—Messrs J. Webb and W. Hall. GISBORNE CLUB. The A. and B. grade finals in connection with the Gisborne Club were rowed off last evening, when a couple of good races -were witnessed. In the A grade Pvcroft (stroke). Port. O’Brien and Muir defeated deLautour (Quigley sub., stroke), Scott. Reddeli and Fraser.
The B. grade final resulted in a win for H. Buffett (stroke), G. Fromm, Parsons and Cogar, who defeated Rutherford, Donnelly, File and Melville, after a good race to the bridge, after which Puflett had matters all his own way.
Entries for the next trial fours close at the Club house this evening.
