TURANGANUI CLUB

On the Turanganui green yesterday afternoon three games in the Bennett Cup competition were played. The results were:—

—Bennett Cup.—

A. Sawyer 16 beat W. Bruce 13. This game was remarkab-'e for the smallness of the scores. Bruce put up a good fight against such a player as Sawyer, hut Oiad to' suffer defeat by three noints.

S. Wootton (holder) 22 beat M. G. Nasmith', junr 17.—This was a splendid game, both- players giving a fust-class exhibition of drawing. On the 7th head the contestants were S all, on the 10th head 10 all, on the 12th head 12 all. Wootton was three up on the 16th head—l 6to 13. On the remaining five heads Wot ton scored six to his opponent’s four, and thus won the gaine by five points. S. Wootton 20 beat B. Hird 11.—In the early stages the game was very elese, and on the 13th head Hird had the narrow lead of one point, being 9 to Wootton’s 8. From this point, however, Woottori’s trailing shots proved too good for liis opponent, and Hird was unable to score more than two points, while Wootton rattled tip 12, Hird thus suffering defeat by 9 ixrints.

INTER-CLUB MATCH —Jeune Pennant.—

The following rinks have been chosen to represent the Turanganui Club against tlie: Gisborne- Club in the Jeune Pennant competition on the former club’s green on- Thursday next:— A J. Nicol, T. McConnell, E. Lewis, J. P. Williams (skip) A. Wallace, W. Bruce, J. Colley, M. A. Neill- (skip). D. Barry, j. D. Jeune, R. McWhirter, C. J. Bennett (skip).
