PELORUS SOUNDS EXCURSION.
NEAY YEAR 1912,
In view of the success which attend- | od the Union S.S.. Coy’s Mokoia’s excursion from Wellington to Pelorns Sound last year, it is intended, to despatch the Mokoia on a second excursion at New Year. The route to be followed on this occasion, however, will differ to some extent from that followed' last: year, and will give excursionists a better opportunity of exploring the Sounds than was then afforded them. . , J . ~ The proposal is to despatch t e Mokoia from Wellington at rmon Satnidav, 30th Deconber. chi ee l lor D’Urville Island, where calls will be made at Port Hardy and G-reville Harbor (the latter at the discretion of the master), and opportunities afforded excursionists of landing and exploring the beauties of those places, and also of indulging in deep-sea fishing-—a sport for which this vicinity is famous. From Port, Hardy, the Mokoia will proceed to Pelorns Sound, and her subsequent programme will allow of a full exploration of the intricacies of the Sound and the innumerable beauty spots which are contained within its coastline of over 300 miles. The Mokoia will leave on her return passage to 'Wellington on 'Tuesday, 2nd January, and, is due back at Wellington on the same evening. The vessel in addition to an efficient- orchestra, will carry extra- officers, and also a hairdresser. She will also be provided with launches lor thepurpose of towing the -boats containing landing parties, and for fishing purposes. The fare from Wellington, covering an excursion from Saturday till 'Tuesday evening, is £3 LOs, the accommodation of the vessel fore and aft being reserved exclusively for saloon passengers. Excursionists booking at other ports will require to pay, in, addition to the Mokoia fare, the cost of the journey between their bonne port and. Wellington. No extra, charge will be made for the occupation of deck cabins, except in the case of married couples desiring the exclusive use of a cabin, when half-fare for each unoccupied berth must- he collected .
