A curious instance of an incumbency falling into the hands of the wrong man was described by one of the speakers at a meeting at Sion' College during a discussion on "Patronage, Tithe, and Glebe.” An incumbent had to he found for a certain parish, and the matter was referred to the bishop. Looking down a list of names, the bishop found two clergymen of the same name, and one of them, he thought, would he admirable for the purpose. But through some ini stake the other man was chosen and was duly instituted. Pie proved to he cjuite unsuitable, but, by the tactful persuasion of a suffragan bishop, he was induced to retire.
