CLTJB-SWINGING RECORD. [per press association.,] NAPIER, Dec. 17. -V new world’s club swinging record was completed by Tom Burrows m Napier on Saturday night. He started on Wednesday night and continued for /2 hours 5 minutes, at 100 revolutions pei minute, 50 with each hand, beating bis own previous record of 72 hours at 80 revolutions. N.Z. ATHLETES AT WORK. WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. At the sports meeting of the Wellington Athletic Club on Saturday, L. JN. Hill (Auckland) won tlie one mile handicap in. 4min 22 2-ssec, being only 2-ssec outside Schrubb’s Australasian record. In the three-mile event ho failed to beat the record of 14min 49sec, held by W. I. Simpson, doing only 15min 7 2-ssec. He did not appear to push himself. M. Upie (Christchurch) ran well in the 100 yards and 220 yards events, but was not brilliant. He gained third place in the WO yards to C. T. Young (11 yards) and A. T. Duncan (2 yards), the winner s time being 10 l-ssec. In the second heat of the 220 yards event he ran splendidly, but stumbled, and gained only third place. The time of the winner, J. W ilton (7 yards) was 22 3-osec. In the.loo yards race from scratch A. 1. Duncan won, with Messenger (Masterton) second, and Coard third. In the 220 yards race from scratch Coard won, with R. McKenzie (Masterton) second, and Messenger third. Duncan did not start. In tho hammer-throwing, A. Bissett registered 122 ft 3in.
