ENTERTAINMENTS.

PATHE PICTURES

An unusually large audience for a week-night assembled in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening to witness the screening of a new series of pictures. The items were of very pleasing character, and the onlookers responded liberally with applause. Possibly the most noteworthy of the dramatic items was a depiction entitled “The Way of the Eskimo.” In addition to relating a well arranged love story the film has many features which enhance its value. The events forming the subject of the story are enacted in Labrador, in country clothed in. a mantle of snow; and ice. The breaking up of the ice in summer makes it possible for the Eskimos to again resort to their canoes as a means of transit, and it is demonstrated how they construct their craft in such, a manner as to permit of their being turned over in the water without the disastrous results usually attendant on such an adventure. A very pleasing story indeed is that depicted in “'Wages and Wage Earner,” which tells of a young. man’s wager that he will obtain and hold a certain position for one month, how" he did so, and -with what results. “The Doomed Ship,” and “Tiie Little vSbldier of ’64” were also highly meritorious numbers. The comic items included many ludicrous items, among which figured “The Infant at Snakeville,” “Bill Makes Butter,” and “The Two Little Boys next Door,” the latter being a most laughable study. The series, which also includes a number of scenic depictions, will be repeated this evening.
