NEW ZEALAND COMPANY ACQUIRE CONTROLLING INTEREST

(Received Jan. 4, 9.20 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 4. The New Zealand Slapping Company has acquired a controlling interest in the Federal Company. The exchange of a portion of uninsured shares for credit has fully paid the Federal owners, who have promised to hold the shares en bloc for a period of years. Mr. Allan Hughes joins the New Zealand Company. N.Z. shares have risen to £l7 10s to £lB 10s. The “Times” states the amalgamation is the result of the P. and O. Company calling at Auckland. N.Z. CO. JOIN FEDERAL STEAM NAVIGATION CO. [.UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT] LONDON, January 3. The Shipping. Gazette states that the New Zealand Shipping Company is amalgamating with the Federal Steam Navigation Company. HARDLY CORRECT. [per PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 4. The local manager of the Shipping Co. says the cable is hardly correct. The New' Zealand Company has acquired an interest in t'he Federal Company, but lias not amalgamated with it. Mr. J. J. Kinsey, local agent of the Federal Company, could 1 say nothing on the matter at all.
