TOLOGA RIDING LOAN.

CARRIED BY SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITY. There was not a great deal of interest manifested ip the poll taken in the Tologa Riding special rating district yesterday on the proposal ot the Cook County Council to raise a special loan of £51.00 for works in the riding. The purposes for which the loan was to be devoted were for constructing a new line of road from Tuawhata Block to section Go, Paremata, on the Main East Coast road, and erecting a cart bridge across the Mangaheia at Wigan Settlement. The sum proposed to be borrowed for the main road was £4500, and for the bridge £6OO. The polling booths were situated at Tologa Bav (main), Wigan, and Cook County Council office, Gisborne. As already stated, very little interest was taken in the poll, but the ratepayers who did record their votes gave a substantial majority in favor of the proposal. The only place at which any opposition was shown was at Wigan, where 16 votes were recorded against the proposal, and only 7 for. # The following are the results: — <■’ For. Agst. Infl. The security to be given for the loan is a special ‘rate of one-twelfth of a penny in the £ on the ratable value of all ratable property in the I ologa Riding for a neriocl of 361 years. The cost of raising_ the loan and interest for one year will be paid out of the loan moneys.
