ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
— A MARVELLOUS ESCAPE. [per. press association.!] WELLINGTON, Jan. 15. Eileen Leslie, aged 11, a daughter of the custodian of the Town Hall, had a marvellous escape from severe injury yesterday. Rising early, she and other children wore playing on the flat roof of a building, when the little girl jumped from the highest part of the building to a skylight six feet below. The skylight- was not sufficiently strong and she crashed through, falling over 30ft to another skylight, whore she was found in a semi-conscious condition a little later by her father. She was badly cut about the head, arms, and legs, but no bones were broken. She was removed to the hospital. CHILD DROWNED. AUCKLAND, -Jan. 15. While playing on a river bank at Huntly to-day Gavin McVie, aged two years and eight months, fell over the bank and was drowned. Deceased's father is an engine-driver at Ralph's mine.
