RAILWAY COTTAGE DESTROYED. [per press association.] EKETAHUNA, Jan. 15. A five-roomed railway cottage in the railway yards, occupied by G. Southbv, was destroyed by fire at 3 o’clock Sunday morning, with the contents. The occupants were away. The cause of the fire is unknown. The furniture was insured for £SO in the Yorkshire office. OLD LANDMARK DESTROYED. AUCKLAND, Jan. 15. The Holy Trinity parish hall at OtaJxulm was destroyed by fire on Sunday afternoon. The'hall and furniture (including a piano) were insured for £l9O. The hall was a very old landmark, being built at the time the Imperial troops were camped at Otahuhu. SAWMIr.L DESTROYED. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 15. A little before 7.30 this morning the Kaiapoi fire brigade turned out to a lire in the Kaiapoi Shipping and Trading Company’s sawmill at the back of ITaiison’s' building in Charles Street. The mill, a* large corrugated iron structure, containing a good deal of timber, vas a mass of flames, and 'the brigade centred its attention on. adjoining buildings, mostly sheds, which were considerably damaged. The mill was gutted and'the boiler and engine were rendered useless. The other machinery was also destroyed.
