AUCKLAND’S NEW CLOCK.
SET IN MOTION YESTERDAY
[per TRESS ASSOCIATION.-] AUCKLAND, Jan. 22. The four-dial clock in the tower of he Town Tall, which has been presentd by Mr. Arthur M. Myers, M.P. (an 'x-Mayor) was set in operation at loon to-day by the Mayor (Mr. C- J. ’an) in the presence of several citi:ens. The Mayor subsequently tmveild a handsome tablet erected for the mrpose of commemorating the gift of Jr. Myers. The clock is described as icing of admirable workmanship and inishj the makers, Messrs Gillett and lohnston, have just installed one of a imilar type at Toronto. “The works,” deled Air. Bartlett (to whom was enrusted the installing of the new clock) ’are really first class, and calculated <» last for generations owing to the iigh quality of the materials used and he excellence- of tlic manufacturer/’
