HOUSEHOLD HINTS.

It is a good plan to wipe out all greasy utensils with a piece of soft paper before washing them, as this method saves a great deal of time and trouble. The paper should be destroyed at once. If you want the contents of a saucepan to cook quickly never leave a spoon in it. The spoon carries off a great deal of the heat and delays the boiling. When starching holland pinafores, put a little stx-ong tea into the search to keep the garments a good color. Nice White Doorsteps.— Put some size and whiting with a little washing blue into hot water, and stir until the size and whiting are dissolved; then use in the ordinary way. This will last some time if washed over with a clean flannel and cold water. When making a rice pudding, add a tablespoonful of finely-grated beef suet, and it will be almost as rich as if made with cream. The following directions are very good' for cleaning and polishing leather. Dip a soft woollen cloth in boiling milk and wipe the leather with this, rubbing gently until all the dirt is removed. Then wipe dry with a soft flannel. When the leather is clean go over the surface with a piece of prepared wax. The wax should be spread over the cloth as' thinly as possible. After the .waxing go over the leather with a clean, soft flannel, rubbing briskly, but not too hard. A recipe for this wax is as follows: Put two ounces of beeswax, cut in small bits, into a bowl. Place the bowel in a pan of hot water on the back of the range. When the wax 15 quite soft beat into it , after taking it off the stove, a quarter of a cupful of turpentine and half a teaspoonful of paraffin oil. It is ready for immediate use. If before you are ready to; use it the wax should get cold set.it in a pan of hot water for a few moments. This is suitable for leather that is used as a furniture covering.
