[PER PRESS. ASSOCIATION.] MASTERTON, March 28. The Masterton Club’s autumn meeting was opened on the Opaki racecourse to-day, iir fine weather- There was a large attendance and excellent racing results. The tote investments amounted to £9OOB, which is an increase of £2819 on the opening day of last year. The Waipiripi Cup was won by Mescal by a head from St. Felix. The last race of the day, which fell to Mr. D. Buiek’s Goldslev, produced a sensational dividend. Following were the results:
Maiden Hack Race, of 90 sovs, 5 furlongs.—Daybreak. 6.13 (Bell), 1; Miss Roberts, 8.11 (Ryan), 2; Panthea, 8-5 (B. Olliver), 3. Kancao, Madiera, Andrea, Ivingi, Hori, Elevated, Waimahona, Kilmore, Ottero. Won by a length and a half, with half a length between second and third. Time, lmin 4sec. March Handicap, of 90 sovs, 6 furlongs.—Te Roti, 7.4 (Lodder), _1; Dirge, 7.6 (Emmerson) 2; Negative, 6.0 (Weller), 3. Also started: Full Rate, British Maid, Purakau, Rangatua. Won by half a. length, same distance between second and third. Time, lmin 16-1 see. Masterton Hack Handicap, of 80 sovs, 1 mile.—Mira, 8-2 (Ryan), 1; Glenfern. 7.1 (O’Shea), 2; Kingswell, 7.3 (Emmerson. 3- Also started : Bonnie Boy, Gabv, Lord Renown, Lady Volley, 1 Black Reef, Mediterranean. ler) 1 St. Felix, 6.10 (Emmerson) 2 Golden Loop (Tricklebank) .3 Also started: Sir Knox 9.0, Sir Queen 8.7. The Rover 8.7, Red Lupin 7.8, Sir Solo 7.4, Bally Shannon 7.2,San Plui 6.12. Won by a short head- Golden Loop, who was"left badly, got within a bead of the second horse. Time, 2min 10§ sec.
Ruaolnmga Hack Handicap, of 65 sovs, 6 furlongs.—Nukuatu 8.5 (W. Price) 1, Merrimac 7.2 (Lorrigan) 2, Aloha 9.0 (Deeley) 3. Also started: Allurement, Rongomaiu, Miss Vena, Miss Alba, Miss Ambrose, Tray'lock. Won by a length and a half, and a length between second and third. Time, lmin 15 l-ssec.
