Y.M.C.A. (12) v. TUHAYGANUI (1). Hiis match was played at tne new reserve, .Childers Road, the Y.M.C.A. ■team having an easy win over the Turanganni eleven. Play was very uninteresting, Y-M.C-.A. scoring four goals in the first few minutes. Turanganui rallied, but could only succeed in scoring a single goal. Turanganni kicked off. From a throw-in Y.M.C.A. got possession and the ball travelled out to J. Hues, at outside-right, who, after a short run, scored a good goal. From the kickoff Y.M.C.A. took command and after a brisk interchange of kicks, Wincks gained possession, and, from . a good kick, notched Y.M.C.A.’s'second goal. After the kick-off a series of homo kicks in Tnranganui territory followed. Turanganni rallied, but after a fruitless effort were driven back on their defences, where Wincks, after a good run, landed a shot between, the posts. Wincks once more obtained possession and passed to Green, who transferred to Hues; The leather then went into centre, -where Wincks secured and, after a short but tricky run, landed it in the net. Turanganul made' a fast- run down the field but' were stopped by A. Webster. G. Webster secured the ball and passed to Hues, who, after a long run, landed the ball between the posts from a rather difficult angle. Y.M.C.A. instituted a good passing rush as the result of which Greene scored off anice header. Turanganni gathered strength and charged the Y.M.C.A. goal-keeper, who saved with a nice long kick. They again forced matters and secured a corner-kick, but Mawson failed to find the goal-mouth. Y.M.C-A. sent the hall up the field, where Roadie,- after a short tussle, secured it and, dribbling down the field, scored Turanganui’s first goal-Centre-play followed till the call of half-time.
In the second act Turanganui forced matters, but were unsuccessful. A fine passing rush between _ the Y.M.C.A. forwards resulted in J. Dodds scoring a good goal. Interchange kicking and line-play followed. Y.M.C.A. forced matters and again rushed the Turanganui goal-keeper, who kept cool and saved the situation three or four times in succession. Finally Green came under the limelight, and from a good kick landed.the leather 'between the posts.' Turanganui forced matters and had Y.M.C.A. in difficulties, but Gardiner , saved- the fort. Y.M-.C.A. secured a free kick, which J. Hues trapped and passed to Wincks, who scored. From the kick-off Wincks again secured and set off down the field once more, scoring it good goal. During a scramble Dodds was penalised for. off-side play, hut the ball was blocked bv Webster, who sent it down the field, and Y.M.C.A. scored from a scramble. Hues was penalised for off-side plav. Webster secured the hall from the free-kick and passed to Wincks, who scored his sixth goal a few minutes before the curtain was rung down. The exhibition resulted in;a win. .for Y.M.C.A. hv 12 goals to 1; ’ Mr Whitely refereed. G.T.A, (6) v. COUNTY (1).
G.T.A. met and defeated County on the Polo Ground, Makauri, by (1 goals to 1. Play was fairly even up till half time, the score then being 2—l. From the re-start the, game livened up, honors being fairly even. ■'About. 20 minutes from the call of time, however, the G.T.A. forwards asserted themselves, and added, four goals in quick succession, finally running out winners by 6 goals to one.
