AN INTERESTING BALANCE SHEET. By Telegraoh—Special Correspondent. "WELLINGTON, June 20. Some interesting items of information are embodied in a balance sheet of the Federation of Labor which was presented at the opening of the conference recently held in Wellington. The document deals with the financial operations of tlie Federation from September 1, 1911, to May 10, 1912, ia. period of eight months and ten days. Tlie total expenditure for the period is shown as £2427. On September 1, 1911. the Federation had a credit balance of £5Ol, and by Mav 10, 1912, the amount at credit. had been reduced to £431. It appears from tlie balance sheet that the Federation, organiser (Air R. Semple) draws a salary of over £4 per week in addition to travelling allowance and expenses. Mr Semple’s expenses on Ids’trip to Australia in the early part of the present year are stated at £llO. The trip covered a period of about six weeks. From the receipts side of the balance it appears i that 44 unions are affiliated to the Federation. The principal groups are : j Miners’ unions 17, find waterside ; workers 10. Tlie New Zealand sliearers are affiliated as a Federation. ■ The following summarised statement of receipts, appears on the balance sheet:
