PATHE PICTURES I There was a good audience at His Majesty’s Theatre last- night, when tlie current programme being screened by the Rathe Picture Company again, met with an enthusiastic reception. An almost entire change will be submitted to-night, vPhen a series of much merit will be shown. The star attraction is a story of Kentucky, entitled, “The Customs Officer and the Girl.” This centres round the lawless operations of a band of moonshiners. The revenue men capture the band, but they escape through the cleverness of the daughter of the leader of the outlaws. In the end, however. the girl falls in love with the revenue man. He in turn is taken prisoner by tlie 1 outlaws, and is left tied-and gagged in the inner chamber of a, cave. The revenue men capture the stronghold, and unaware that their officer is a prisoner set fire to the contraband goods. The girl risks her life an cl effects a plucky and sensational rescue. “The Heart of Nichette” is a powerful Edison drama, in which a doctor and a famous ballet dancer are the principal actors. The pair had been interested in each other, but separated because the dancer would not leave the stage- _ A sick child is the agency which brings them together again,. 'Tlie situations are dramatic, and there is a certain appeal to tlie helplessness cf the child which touches the heart. “In the Clutches of a Vapor Bath” is a Vitagranh comedy, tb see which is as good medicine as a trip to the seaside. A fat man tries to reduce his weight, but a sneak thief steals his clothes while he is in the cabinet. His wife brings home some friends to tea, and she cannot imagine whv her husband will not-admit her. When the doctor arrivep the fat man lias smashed the cabinet to atoms. Two fine scenic subjects arc provided in views of Iceland and “A Visit to m Rajah s Tomb,” both of which contain very fine scenery. The European and Australasian Rathe Gazette are full of interesting topical subjects, whilo the humorous element is well, supplied. Tlie whole programme is of a most attractive character. Another complete change will be screened tomorrow night.
