HEAVY SEA AT NAPIER.
MINOR DAMAGE REPORTED
•By Telegraph—Special Correspondent NAPIER-, July 11. The heavy sea which has' been breaking on the beach during the last few days still continues and is probably the heaviest sea that has visited these parts for some years. In spite of the mountainous rollers vessels callings at Napier have had no difficulty in berthing behind the breakwater and to-day the Victoria came alongside and remained there. Though normal conditions prevailed on the town beach shingle has been thrown up at different spots and at the baths there is a good accumulation;
At other points the beach has been denuded and it was considered advisable, by the authorities to tie the swings to the sea. wall, _ hut before -that action could be carired out one pair of posts succumbed to the continuous assaults of the waves, but the timber was recovered at the storm water, outlet.
Opposite the Hawke’s Bay Club the shingle has accumulated rapidly and the same remark applies to the beach immediately north of the baths.'
