A POLITICAL SQUABBLE.

SOME DIVERSION AT ALBANY

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND. July 25

The good people of Albany- have been having considerable diversion among themselves over the visit of Hon Thomas Mackenzie to their district last month in his capacity as Prime Minister.

At last night’s meeting of. the Albany Fruitgrowers’ Association this diversion was brought to some sort of finish.

There was a big attendance of members-

The president (Air. T. Foley) announced that he had an unpleasant task before him. It was one which affected the members of the association.

Air. Folev then referred to the visit of Hen. Thos. Alackenzie to the district and to the invitations which had been cent round hv the president and members of the association to meet the Premier.

Air. Harris, the member for the district. wa- included among those invited. and accrrding to a letter published by Mr. Knight, the representative was refused the courtesy of being allowed to see the Crown lands of the district on that occasion, added the speaker, who then moved that members of the association disapprove of Air. Knight's action in publishing the fact that ho refused to allow Air- Harris to go in a motor car to see the Crown lands in the district. A long and boated discussion followed. after which the president reiterated that he only wanted to know the feeling of the association, and after some further discussion on amendment that Air. Knight’s action he approved of was made. The fact that this was a direct negative of the original motion seemed to bother the meeting somewhat, and a little time was snout in considering how the difficulty had best be overcome.

Eventually- the president decided to accept this as an amendment in order and priority, and upon it being put it was carried lv 11 votes to 10, amid loud applause for Air. Knight.
