GISBORNE ASSOCIATION.

THE SEPTEMBER CARNIVAL

The Gisborne Boxing Association has decided to hold a tournament on September 12 and 13 at His Majesty s Theatre. The star item will be a 15xcund profesional match between Bert Lowe, of Gisborne, and Peter Thomas, of Hawke’s Bay. for a purse of £4-0 and expenses. This should furnish an excellent contest. Lowe has not yet been defeated, either as an amateur or a professional, while Thomas, who •is about Lowe’s weight, is a clever boxer, with many fine performances to his credit. His ability will be reaclily acknowledged "■when' itT is remembered that he fought a 15-round draw with Barney Ireland- He also successfully weathered 15 rounds with Mitchell, the heavy-weight _ champion, and was just beaten on points.
