THE OiA.MPIONiS.RIP MEETING

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. The New Zealand golf championship meeting was continued to-day. The weather was threatening in the morning, but the sun broke out and made the games pleasant. The second round of the amateur championship and the professional match wero played and in the ai'U'.rnoon a bogey handicap was placed. Some games in the amateur - ha in pa nshins were well fougnt out, a capital go being witnessed between B. BW ood and B. L. .Taylor. In the professional match W. McEwon and J. McCormick played a good match, the former finishing one lip. The Governor took part, in a fourball bogey handicap, his partner being A. Duncan, but they were dereuxou Kennedy and B. Smith. To-morrow the third round of the match will he played and the third and fourth rounds of the amateur championship will be played on Saturday. MANAWATU LADIES' TOURNEY

'PF.H PfIKSS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON N., Sept. 19. The final in the Ladies’ Open Championship in the Alanawatu golf tournament was won h.v Alisa G. Gorrie. who defeated Miss Hamlin, G up and 5 to play. .Miss G. Gorrie also wins the first modal hnndi: ap and second medal handicap, and was second in the bogey handicap.

The consolation match was won bv Mrs Slack and the bogey handicap by .Miss Hamlin.

A UXTRALIAN OHAAIPIONSHIP

(Received Kept. 19. 9.20 p.m.) MEL BO URN E, vSept. 19. Morrison won the golf championship 3 up and 1 to play. dt, was an exciting contest. The winner, aged 21, successively deflated Murdoch, the Victorian amateur champion, Whitton, the open champion of Australia, and Captain Burnham (England).
