The annual mooting of the Gisborne Racing Club was hold at tlve Gisborne. Hotel last evening. Mr D. Hepburn presided and there was a good attain.anco. of members. This satisfactory position had enabled the committee to reduce the mortgage debt by £BSO, and tnis now stood at £4650. 'Phe committee had kept in view the necessity for improving the appointments at the course -vd had spent in improving the grounds and buildings, and providing additional plant, the sum of £7lO 10s Id. T he members' paddock had been considerably enlarged and should provide ample accommodation for. many years to (•chip. /is before stated the stakes had been increased by £440, and that this increase was appreciated by horse owners was shown by an increase in nomination and acceptance fees of £337 !os, as compared with the previous year. The membership had increased by 14 for the year, and the total now stood at 102. The committee desired to record their thanks to all officials for their attention to thenduties during the past season. The chairman congratulated members on the year’s operations. They had paid £BSO off their loan_and had reduced their interest by £sl. Ihore had been £7lO 10s'Id spent on improvements, which consisted bl enlarging the paddock behind the grandstand, shirting the _ caretaker’s cottage, and straightening the course at the four furlongs..mule and mile and 1 aquarter posts. Both the committee and secretary had worked very hard during the year in furthering the interests of the Club and supervising tlie improvements which had been well carried out by the caretaker. The grounds wore being planted with trees which would improve them, while the course proper had been resown in grass. Mr J). J. Barry.also congratulated the Club on the successful year just passed. The alterations made in connection with the st-artivo* posts were a great improvement and would be heartily appreciated by horse-owners. Mr F. Parker thought the bahuiooshcot disclosed a very healthy state of affairs. The position was excellent and

one which he thought tho Club was to be congratulated on. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were re-elect-ed :—President. Sir das. Carroll; vice-president, Mr 1). Hepburn; lion, treasurer, Mr C- J. Bennett; committee, .Messrs D. J. Barry, C. J. Bennett, F. Hall, I>. Hepburn, F. J. Lyc'nar, J. H. Alar tin, G. Matthewson, T. Air-Con noil, G. B. Oman, C. J. Parker, F. Parker, J. Sistorson. A recommendation was made to tho incoming committee, en the motion of Mr 1... Williams, to consider the question of again increasing the stakes for the ensuing year. Mr H. E. Bright suggested that the incoming committee should conskler the question of beautifying the grounds and, this was agreed to. A high tribute was paid to the work of the secretary (Air If. E. Dodd) and a resolution proposed by Air W. F. CSeder wall to increase his salary was unanimously carried.•
