Tho old prejudice, which tells us that- woman is incapable of the necessary physical endurance, dies hard. jo work all clay at a mangle or wasninb would be quite feminine and ordinary; but to swim all day qiuuj impossible. I think they began with cricket (writes a correspondent in the “Pall Alall Gazette.”) When hockey came along we heard terrible warnings. The size of the hands and feet- were to increase; to an alarming extent. Yet- our fair devotees .seem to possess both dainty bands and trim feet, while the improvement in their health and physique is manifest.
