CONCLUDING DAY

The Xew Zealand golf tournament eamo to a conclusion to-day iu splondid weather, the links being in splendid condition. The last two rounds of tile amateur championship were played, B. B. Wood, or ■Christchurch, defeating A. Wright, of Christchurch, by oup and o to play. The winner displayed better all-round form, Wright being weak on the greens. At the 18th hole in the first round good work was done by both and it looked like halving, hut AY right was laid half stymie and’the dip of the ground being against him he lost Gto 5. Ho was thus 3 down at the end of this round, when the scores stood: Wood, out, 31: in, 37. AYright, out, 40 ; in 41. In the second round Wright's chances were hopeless at the 12th hole, AYood winning at the 14t,S hv •*> to 6, and the match by G up and 5 to play. At the invitation of Sir Joseph AYarcl, President of the Wellington Golf Club, 'Lord Islington presented the prize.
