ADDITIONS TO BE MADE AT TE HAPARA. RESUME OF OTHER LOCAL BUSINESS. Bv Telegraph—Special Corrosnondent NAPIER, Sent. 26. At the Education Board to-day the tender of J. Jackson of £450 was accepted for the teachers’ residence at Opoutama. Alotu’s application for fencing was referred to the overseer with power to act. , . To Hapara wrote asking for additions. Granted. It was dccidede to request the Department for a grant in aid of a convevanee for the children at W aiohika. The chairman and other took strong exception to tho delay in the Department’s replies to requests for residences, schools and conveyances. It was characterised as disgraceful, as delay in answering correspondence was worse than a refusal.
It was decided to write to the Minister on the subject, bringing under his notice many aggravating instances of excessive delay.
