FEAR S'OF A FLOOD EXPRESSED.

[BY TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT] NAPIER, Oct. 23. Heavy rain lias been falling all day and/ fears of a flood exist in the eountrv districts.

At present (10 p.m.) there are signs that the weather is breaking, but such suggestions, although hopeful, cannot he taken too seriously 7 as they have been present off and on all day. Luckily the low-lying portions of Napier have been kept clear of water owing to the activity of the new Engineer, who has effected praiseworthy improvements in the water tables and channels.
