WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. ! SPRING MEETING. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] t WELLINGTON, Oet. 28. The Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting was concluded at Treiitham to-day. The weather was perfect and there was a record attendance, over 9000 being present, including the Governor and Premier and several other Ministers and M’s.P. The totalisator turnover was £28,412, a record, making £38,227 for the meeting, compared with for the last spring meeting. The deficiency is due to bad weather experienced on Saturday. Results: Tararua Handicap, of 100 sovs., seven furlongs.—3 Monckton and Addington’s Brown Trout 9.3 (R. Hatch) 1, 4 J. Rose’s Daunton 2, 1 C. Anders' Avauche S.lO 3. Also started: 2 Dirge 8.4, 6 Torpoint 7.2, J Otaraia. 7.0. Won bv a head, with a length between second and third. Juveniie .Handicap, of 2-- sovs (for Aw°-year-okls) flour furlongs.— 1 W. Nidd’s Peronella S.o (C. Emerson) 1, 3 Fail-child’s Secret Link 7.7 2, 6 C. Walley’s Prince Lacldo 7.7 3. Also started: 2 Gladful 7.12, 4 Pavola 7.7, 7 Land Rail 7.7, ,5 Guiding Way 7.5. Mon by three quarters of a length, Prince Laddo being a head behind Secret Link.
Spring Trial Stakes, of 100 sovs., six furlongs.—-1 W. E. Bidwill’s Exertion 7.5 (Tricklebank) 1,2 “Mr Highden’s” Lockwood 7.8 2, Hon J D Ormond’s Missile 8.6 3. Also started: 6 Merry Guv'S.6, 4 Coutlev 8.4, 8 Parky 8.4, 5 Red Book 7.8, 7 Otter i.o, 9 Elevated 7.5, 10 Valtire 7.3. Won easily by a length. Missile was about three lengths behind Lockwood. Time; 1.21 4-5.
Pearce Handicap, of 300 sovs., 1 mile.—l2 H. Nees’ Sir Knox 7.12 1, 9 J. R. Furze’s Medallist 7.2 2, 10 T. Girdwood's Kilosteri 6.7 3. RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. [BY TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT] RICCARTON, Oct. 28. Glorious weather was experienced at Ricearton this morning and the -grass track was in a much improved condition. Vice-Admiral and Allegory, with light weights up, were indulged in a good working gallop over two rounds, sprinting the last four fuilongs in 52sees. Alasterpiece did three-quarter pace work and Vocation sprinted four furlongs in 52 4-5. Ermengarde went once round and galloped the last four furlongs in SGsecs., while Bonny Helen put up a pleasing, performance by getting to the end of the half-mile in 50secs. Alercedo was sent over four flights of hurdles, jumping pleasingly. After breakfast Grand Slam sprinted four furlongs in 53secs., while Jewel Pin and Owliero separately raced over 3 furlongs. Daylight Bill did not give a pleasing performance while jumping four flights of hurdles. Whizz and Tip Top spurted a couple of furlongs un the back. A large number of otWs were worked, but were not extended
