TOWN UNDER ARREST.
ISLE OF MANN DESORT WHICH NEGLECTED TO PAY ITS DUES’.
Port Erin, a. watering-place in the Isle of Mann, has been put under arrest by the coroner, acting under an order in an action against the Port Erin Commissioners. Some years ago the commissioners agreed to purchase the “Brows,” a property overlooking the hay. A new Board of Commissioners refused to complete tlio purchase, and an action was begun which resulted in execution issuing for £2,2-50 —the purchase price of the property —with interest from 1100 and costs amounting to £4OO. The Tynwald —the Manx P; Eminent—gave the town permission to borrow for twenty-five . years a sum sufficient to meet their obligations, hut the commissioners havi lg Lrffid to take prompt steps to ra'se the money, an execution was put into force. All properties, moneys, and rights in the rates were Gsuc l The execution will involve a rate of several shillings on the town.
