DOG’S PRESENT TO AUCKLAND HOSPITAL.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM]

AUCKLAND, Oct. 31

Another heated * argument took place at the Hospital Board meeting to-day, very similar to previous outbreaks.

Among some complaints voiced by Mr. Mac Kay in connection with the hospital administration, was one of a rather unsavoury nature. He said that a dog had carirod a hone of an aged kind into the grounds, and that upon its discovery near the nurses’ quarters, the house manager had seen fit to catechise some of the sisters and nurses concerning its immediate place of origin. Air Mac Kay also complained that the house manager had sent some second-hand goods out oT the store room to auction, without having brought the matter before the Board.

These remarks, as usual, provided food for a dispute, and the Chairman took up the cudgels on the officials’ behalf. A passage of arms followed between M-essrs AlaeKay and Nehenv.

Air Wallace said he deprecated such scenes at the Board’s meetings. As a new member he wished to state that from extensive inquiries he had made at the hospital, lie was convinced that Captain Thomas, in the capacity of house manager, was an excellent officer.—(Hear, hear). The display of such feeling emphasised the necessity for the recent alteration in the method of administration, and he hoped that this outbreak would be the last of its kind. (Hear, hear).
