BOWLING.

GISBORNE CLUB. Tire games in the Saturday Fours Competition were resumed on Saturday. Two games were -played in the A. Section, and one in the B. Section. The results are as follow: —A. Section. — I). M. Parker. Boulton (sub), Brown and McMillan (skip) 21 beat Rev. Hamilton, Cobb, W. Pettie and Craig (skip) 15. This was a very even contest up to the 17th head, when the score sheet read, 'McMillan 15, Craig 14. McMillan’s team then drew away, and on the 20th head were 19 to 15, leaving Craig to get 4 to tie on tho last head. He made a dead head twice in

succession, but eventually the winning team put on a couple and won. Crompton, (sub), D. G. Robertson, Maher and Bright (skip) 21 lost to O’Meara, Tlielwall, Bennett and Kyme (skip) 23. Tin's was a most remarkable game, insofar that on the 9th head Ivyme was 19 while the other side had not scored. On the 12th head, the card read, 21 to 3. Bright’s team now took a hand in matters and by dint of perseverance and good play piled up the points, until on the 20th head were one behind, namely, 22—21. This left them to get one to tie and two to win. Needless to sav the last head was most exciting. When, the skips went down to ]>lay, Bright’s team were lying the two to win. Kyme drove with his first howl and went clean through the head without disturbing anything, but with his last bowl he played to wick in off a bowl, and did so winning the game for his side by two. In the early part of the game Kyme played in deadly fashion, doing everything ho was asked to do, but he slackened down, and could not get going again, until the last head. —B. Section. — G. Crawford, Witty, Corson. Greig (skip) 14 lost to Murray (sub.), George, Wootton, Paltridgs (skip) 30. Paltridge’s team set out from the jump and was never troubled, winning somewhat easily. The winning team played in great stylo, more especially the No. 1, A. Murray, who was playing substitute for Gat-land. He was practically on the jack the whole time, and attributed in no small way to his side’s success.

One ordinary game was played, viz: Horne, Ashton, Johnstone, Ambridge (skip) 33, beat Redstone, Hamilton, Johnstone and Hookey (skip) 10. The competitions are going off quickly. and at the present rate of progress will soon he played out. The Eure Stars competition'has been revived and a challenge is now on the board to the holders, and the game will probably bo played some time this week.
