THE WOUNDED POLICE COMMISSIONER.
[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT] LONDON, Nov. 28. Albert Bowes, the chauffeur who fired three shots at Mr Henry, Commissioner of Police, outside his Kensington residence, was refused a license to drive a taxi-cab because he had been convicted of drunkenness. After the third shot Mr Henry slammed the door in his assailant’s face. Mr Henry’s chauffeur seiz.ed the revolver and threw Bowes on the ground. Mr Henry’s wound, at first stated to be serious, is not dangerous.
Inspector Henry is improving. The accused has been remanded
