An engagement of interest to old Wanganui College boys, is that of Mr Arthur Huge Acland Empson, of the Bth Cavalry, Indian Army, only son of Mr and Mrs Empson, of Mount Peel, Canterbury, to Dorothy Carlyon eldest daughter of the Rev. Thirwall Gore-Brown, of Eawley Rectory, .*aini)t(!ii.

A wedding of local interest took place last week at St. Mary’s Church, Timaru, of Miss Dorothy J>ay, daughter of Mr V. G. Day, S.M., late of Christchurch, to Mr E. R. Malfroy, of Wellington. The ceremony was performed by Yen. Archdeacon Jacob. The bride, who was given away bv her father, wore a trained gown of ivory satin, draped with ninon, and with lace yoke and sleeves. Her silk net veil, embroidered at the corners, was caught in with sprays of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white geraniums and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, Miss .Lorna Day and .niss Malfroy, wore pale blue satin empire frocks, trimmed with white .-ace, and large black crinoline hats lined with tulle. and with crowns made of tulle rosettes, relieved at one side with a big apricot-shaded rose. Mr J. D. Harper (Christchurch) was Kpst man, and Mr. M. D. Revel!. groomsman. Mrs Day wore a gown of black and white silk, trimmed with black lace and velvet, and a small black and white hat with black ostrich feathers. Mrs Malfroy (Hokitika) was in black satin, black hat with white plumes. The bride's goingawav costume was a biscuit-colored coat and skirt with touches of brown, and large brown hat with pink roses and white lac?. In the evening a most enjoyable dance was held to celebrate the occasion.
