WELLINGTON WOOL SALES.
WOOL OF ROUGH CHARACTER. A SUBSTANTIAL ADVANCE. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM! WELLINGTON, Mar. 4. The Wellington wool sales opened this afternoon, and are now proceeding. The opening catalogues show an advance of a farthing to a halfpenny, considering the rough character of the wool. FURTHER DETAILS OF THE SALE. KEEN COMPETITION REPORTED. WELLINGTON, Mar. 4. The fourth and final wool sale of the ifbason was held to-day. The catalogue comprised 3076 bales, and was mostly a poor selection of log-stained ■and seedy lots from the back-blocks, with sr few parcels of bright fleece and lambswool. Buyers were well represented, and competition was keen, the most animated, in fact, of the series. Prices ruled on an average of a halfpenny per pound higher than at the February sale, and in a few cases were up as much as three farthings Slightly seedy lambs wore notably higher than last sale, while super lambs were about par. A line of half-breds bought for the local mill realised 12£d. The range of other prices compared with those realised at the February sale
