SYDNEY, April 19. A .settlement of the Broken Hill strike is apparently in sight. Tfie parties are conferring. An official telegram received from tho South Australian Railway Commissioners states that the Labor Federation has- withdrawn its objections to the exemptions claimed by the Silverton Tramway Company, provided there are no prosecutions or victimisation.

The Broken Hill strike lias been settled. An agreement has been signed whereby Unionists are to forego the demand that seven officers of the Company be enrolled in the Union. Provided that there shall be no persecutions nor victimisation, work in the mines will be resumed at once. The trains will recommence running to-night.
