THURSDAY 00
Tho second- match ox tho Thursday competition was p.ayed at tho Chiidor’s Dead reserve toAiay, between the Rangers A. and ii. teams. The A’s had tho best of tho game up till halftime, when on recommencing tho B’s livened up considerably, and made tilings very willing for a timo, the game ending in a draw, 1 all. It was a distinct contrast to tho game played by tho 13. team last Thursday, their team having been considerably strengthened by several now players'. For tho B. team Drubs, Wilshaw, Tocher, and Hams played well, while for tho A’s Jim Somorton and Dick, by their splendid defence, were conspicuous. The next matches will be as follows: •Reserve. —Rangors A. v. luranganui. " _ Newstead. —Rangors B. r.- County.
TURANGANUI (4) v. COUNTY (2)
The above match of tho Thursday competition took place on tho County ground yesterday, and tho play wan mediocre, owing to the .greasy condition of tho ball. ‘ In marked. contrast to last week’s feast of exciting play-, yesterday’s game was -slow and uninteresting. No really brilliant play was- seen, excepting that of Kaipara, who shone out as well as he does on tho Rugby field. Turanganui’s scorers were Reed (2), Palmer and I razor 1 each, while Dick and Halt each scored a goal for the-loser.?, Palmer was the best forward .on. tho winning side, and Wallace the most prominent back while Kaipara was the most useful forward for .County, and Bignell the best back. x "
