Messrs. Dalgetv and Company. Ltd., have received cabled information from their London office stating that the market for Bradford tops remains unchanged. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., have received the following information from their London House, Messrs. Sanderson. Murray and Co., Ltd., under date May 2:— Since our last circular, the auctions have passed off with good spirit, competition beia<r chicflv with the Home trade. The market generally has firmed up since the opening, and prices have been veil maintained'. Greasy merino wools, except wastey conditioned parcels, which are rather irregular, have shown a hardening tendency, and for scoured descriptions the market is very firm, faulty lots frequently selling at prices somewhat higher than rates current in March. Greasy fine crossbreds are relatively the cheapest wools to buy, and the weakness quoted in our last report lias become further accentuated, prices for this description being now about 5 per cent lower than at tlic close of the previous sales. The medium greasies remain unchanged, but coarse sorts, under very active competition from the Bradford buyers show 5 per cent improvement on March closing rates. Scoured crossbreds meet- an excellent market at fully last sale’s currency, mid prices for sliped wools are very firm, without change on initial values. 1 lie number of bales offered to date is 114.66<, of which 13,043 bales, 11.37 per cent, have been bought in.
