TOKOMARU BAY. FANCY Dll ESS SKATING. [from; our own correspondent! TO KOMAR U BAY. Jmie 8. ih? fancy dress Skating Carnival was held in the New Zealand Shipping Co.’s shed on Thursday, and i\as a distinct sTieeess. Although the fancy costumes wore not so much-in evidence as at the previous carnival, they were novel and interesting. The host lady’s costume went to Miss E. "Wilson as a “Grecian Maiden.” This young lady easily had a majority of votes and very deservedly gained the prize. The prize for the best gentlemen’s costume went to Mr. H. Oates, as “Swagger.” This dress was most original, and caused much amusement, the wearer acting his part to perfection. He easily had a majority of votes. The prize for best boy’s costume was won by Master Jack Dawson, as “Boy Blue,” and the award for the best girl’s costume-went to Miss 'Mulligan as pTopsy.” . „ The skating prizes went as lollows: .Best nairs skaters, Miss M. Taylor and Mrs ’Littlejohn ; best lady skater, Miss M. Taylor. The following ladies and gentlemen also appeared in fancy dress: Miss C. Oates, “Sport”; Miss Dixon, ‘Goddess of Love” ; Miss Leslie, “lied Biding Hood” ; Miss de Greendi, “tolly ; Miss M. Taylor, “Colleen” (Irish); 'Miss J. Wilson, “Spanish Girl” ; Miss Moana Dawson, “Fairy ; Miss-lit-t.ar “Powder and Puff” ; Miss Sheskv/ “Nurse Girl”; Mrs Cartier, “Girl Scout”; Miss Pittar, “Butterfly Fair.v 4 ’; Mr H. Oates “Ace of Clubs’ ; Mr A. Courtney, “Hope of Team ; Mr J. Freeman, “Ruination to all Men”; Mr. G. Orly “French Doctor” ; Mr N, Milkens, “Frepch Army Officer” ; Mr. M. Johnson, “Scotchman ; Mr (i. AN INTERESTING WEDDING. A wedding of much interest was solemnised before the I icar, Rev. MrWilson, at tho Anglican Cluireli on Wednesday last, tbs contracting pa> - ties being Mr J. Savage, late of Timaru, "and Miss Marie Wilson, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Hone M ilson, of Tokomaru Bay. Mr P. Batting ton acted as best man, while Miss Lockwood, of Tologa' Bay, acted as bridesmaid. The happy couple levt the church to the strains of “The Voice that Breathed o’er Eden.” A bountiful wedding breakfast was partaken of at tho residence of the bride, where 100 persons sat down. The wedding presents were numerous and costly. The happy couple loft later in the day/for Auckhaml, where the honeymoon' will he .spent.
