The French warship Iversaiiit which arrived from Wallis Island on Tuesday, left to-day. Great secrecy is being observed. The “Fiji Times” states thats.on. arrival at Wallis AI. Broeliard (French Commissioner) induced the chiefs to petition France to convert the island into a protectorate, and' annexation was granted and the tricolor hoisted-. It is supposed that this wall' end the conflict between the Catholic missionaries and the French Commissioner.
