To-night will see the farewell performance of Borneo Gardiner at the Opera House. By special request this talented artist will appear in “Dawn” for his las + performance. With the splendid lighting facilities which the Opera House can supply, Mr Gardiner will have everything necessary to produce' this scene is a manner befitting his ability. Patrons should not miss the entertainment, as it will he many a long day before Mr Gardiner again visits Gisborne. His turn alone is sufficient inducement to the public to wade the muddy paths without the excellent programme in conjunction. “Tiie Guiding- Light” is a Lubin drama of 2000 feet and lias interest in, every foot of it. “The Wrong Bottles” is an A.B. story, the “Gaumont Graphic’” is full of interesting topical, happenings and comedies -abound in humor. Two seenics are “St. Gothard” and “Wild Wales.” The screeching comedv “The Leopard and the Burglars,” is ojie of the best laugh-raisers Gisborne lias had for many a long day, and sends the audience home in a. good humor.

THE ALLAN BOONE SEASON

Mr Allan Doone, the celebrac J Irish singing comedian and his company, will open a six nights’ season at the Opera House on Saturday-next, 28th June. It is seldom the dwellers in provincial towns have the opportunity of enjoying a musical. Irish drama ; in fact, the residents of the big cities are not often given the chance of availing themselves of such entertainment. It is only on rare occasion's when a celebrated actor of the calibre of Mr Allen Doone comes from the old world with a complete company of dramatic artists and with musical comedy dramas which have been a success in other lands that this high-class form of amusement is presented. “The Wearing -of the Green,” which introduces Mr Allan Doone to Gisborne, audiences, is said ti be one of the"greatest of all Irish dramas. It has been played by Mr Doone 1,400 times in America, - and was a sensational success on. its first por&uctfcn in Melbourne and Sydney. It possesses all the elements for the general make-up of a liighlyintellectual performance, embracing comedv of the brightest, music of the sweetest, lyrics of the most appealing And tender nature, and a story full of. dramatic contrasts-told in a most enthralling manner. During the course of the play “The Wearing of the Green,” Mr Doone will sing “Nora McNamara,” “A Four-Leafed Clovei - ,” “Ireland,'' my Ireland,” and “The Wearing of- the Green.” The box plans opens this morning (Tuesday) at Lucas’s.
