THE TURF.

GISBORNE RACING CLUB. STEEPLECHASE MEETING. It is hardly necessary to remind the sporting public that the above meeting will open to-day. There is a large concourse of visitors, including a big contingent of Opotiki residents, . in town for the meeting, and at the time of writing the weather gives every promise of being fine. The various competitors have done splendid work since their arrival, and therefore each of the events should be keenly contested and provide a capital day’s sport. The first race is timed to start at 11.30' p.m. Trains will leave for the course at 11 a.m. and; 12.15 p.m., returning at 4.35 p.m.
