YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] WELLINGTON, July 15. The House met at 2.30. Air Allen gave notice to set up a committee to inquire into the working of the Defence Act. Alt- Herd man gave notice to introduce the Police Offences Amendment Bill. Air Ngata was granted four days’ leave of absence. The Defamation Bill (Air Herdman), and Napier Harbor Board Empowering and Loan Bill (Air Campbell) were read a first time.
The Premier laid before the House the report of the Forestry Commission. i
The. Land a fid Income Assessment Act Amendment Bill and the Police Force Bill were received by Governor’s Aiessage and road, a first time on the motion of Air G. AI. Thomson.
The Minister explained the provisions of the former Bill, hut his remarks were inaudible in the press, gallery. The purpose of the Bill is to liberalise the terms of the Act-) the main provision being to extend the limit of exemption to persons with families.
