HOCKEY.
MEETING OE THE ASSOCIATION
The weekly meeting; of the Poverty Pay Hockey Association was held in ■the Masonic Hotel last evening. Present: A. H. Ross (in the chair), A. Lucas, V. Dooling, C. Castle, CL Bus eke, W. Farquhar, A. Cassm and 0. 11, Olsen (hon. sec.). Owing to some teams not paying their ground fees, it was decided to write them stating that fees must be paid by Saturday next at noon, otherwise they would be debarred, from taking part in the competition. The'High School Hockey Club were permission to postpone their A and B match o? the 26tli inst. until the following Thursday, and the match Oisborne v. Old Girls previously. postponed will he played on the 26th of July. .MEETING OF PLAYERS. Over liftv hockey enthusiasts assembled at’ Wootton’s Rooms at 8 o’c-ock last evening to discuss ways and means to raise funds for sending representative teams on tour. Mr A. H. Ross occupied the chair and explained that the Hockey Association were running an art union and that the meeting was called with the object of fretting all hockey players to take books and push the sale of tickets. The secretaries then distributed books of tickets and took names and addresses of persons willing to sell them outside of Gisborne. So well did players and supporters of hockev take up the project at the meeting that the necessary money required to send both ladies and gent s team awav is now practically afesmed. Hiss Moore, on behalf of the Gisborne Ladies’ Club, offered to get up a dance in aid of the funds, and Mr Fairlie reported that the KaiG ■ residen s would run a series of socials with the same object. _
