Sylvia' Pankhurst is adding a sleep strike to lier hunger strike, and lias declared that she will walk her cell continuously. “CAT AND MOUSE ACT.” THE AUTHORITIES SATISFIED. LONDON, July 29. The Home Office is satisfied' with the result of the “Cat and Mouse Act.” Only twenty-one persons wero dealt with under it compared with 2200 previous charges against suffragettes. Sympathisers with the suffragettes in Hoi la way prison, marched from the East End meeting armed with sticks and stones. They arrived at the prison gates at nearly midnight and demanded Miss Kenny’s release. The police scattered the demonstrators, who scaled the prison fences on the opposite side. Police patrolled, the precincts for tho remainder of the night. Two women who took part in this demonstration were sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, and-a man to four months. Tho release of Mrs Pethick Lawrence, Lady Sybil Smith and Miss Sharp was due to the Magistrate revising tho commitments. Suffragettes from' the East End and youths had a meeting at Holloway prison last night. They protested against Miss Kenny’s re-arrest'. Several climbed the fence and smashed; tho governor’s windows. Two shots wero fired. Several rioters wero arrested.
