WELLINGTON SESSIONS. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS] WELLINGTON, August 8.. At the Supreme Court- to-day in the case of Joseph Houldsworth Smith, charged with having committed an indecent act, and with having committed an indecent assault, the jury eossegfehshrdlu shrdlu up up u jnr'v, after a four hours’ retirement, announced that they were of opinion that accused was' guilty of wilfully doing the indecent act. but without criminal intent. His Honor said lie would have to consider the finding and perhaps submit it to the Court of .Appeal. Accused was released on bail. Walter Thomas Miles was found o-uilty of stealing money. Prisoner and William Albert Murray, who on the previous dav had been convicted with Miles of assault and robbery, were nut forward for sentence. Miles was sentenced to 18 months bard labor on each charge, the terms to be concurrent, and also ordered to be oetained for two years for refoimatue treatment. Murray was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal.
