HEALERS OF MEN.

’THE MEDICAL CONGRESS. SOME INTERESTING DISCUSSIONS. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.] (Received Aug. 10, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 10. At the [Medical Congress, Professor Paul Ehlieh described the effects of his famous drug for salvansan disease, which was for years the scourge of the tropics. Single injections, he said, cured three hundred patients, and the sfime results were obtained in recurring fevers and forms of malaria. Professor Vincent reported the result of anti-typhoid innoculations in 1912 among the French troops in Morocco. He said 16 per cent, of the non-inoculated soldiers contracted the disease, as against one in five thousand of the inoculated soldiers. Dr. Barlow, of the Middlesex Hospital for Cancer, in the course of a discussion on the disease, stated that he had found the radium elements in a considerable number of cancer cases and therefore it was clear that whether they considered it from the viewpoint- of chronic irritation or chemical pathology, it was necessary to determine whether radium played, a part in the problem. Dr .W. L. Braddon considered that it was established that .Berriberri could be avoided by changing native diet from deglutinised to whole rice. Dr. R. Blitz suggested that frozen meat formed the nucleus of cancerous toxins, but the chairman stopped his speech, and the idea was greeted with laughter.
